Female figures in the Regional Museum of Messina: Women’s Day on March 8, 2019

The association Guide Turistiche Eolie Messina Taormina organized a theme tour on the female figures housed in the Regional Museum of Messina, in order to celebrate the Women’s Day on March 8 and 9, 2019.
The title of this event was

D d’arte

Since it aimed at analysing the development of the female image in the arts by describing some statues and paintings.  Their selection in the Museum was due to the peculiarity of the subjects or the echo of the artist.
So, visitors were led by specialized tourist guides and observed from a new point of view how the woman has been the main protagonist, subject and muse in the arts.
Another aim was analysing some works with women which are often overlooked by visitors. In conclusion,

• the story of characters,
• techniques,
• and the historical-cultural background

were told. Numerous visitors enjoyed this voyage from the Roman sculpture to the portrait of the XVIII century.

But the Museum of Messina houses other interesting works of art. We’d like to lead you on a guided tour again.
